Postcards Then and Now

Old postcards from the early 20th century, compared to the same view shown on Google Street View today. The postcards come from my own collection. Almost all of them are from England, mainly showing West London, Middlesex, Surrey, Berks and Bucks. Click on the postcards to see enlarged versions. Street View images are the copyright of Google. Brentford, Middlesex, London Road 1913

Although they look very different, the Streetview image shows the same location as the postcard. The pub at the end of the terrace is the only thing that has remained. The railway bridge on the right of the postcard has long gone. There is an excellent website about Brentford here.
