Thames Ditton High Street, Surrey c1912
Thames Ditton High Street today. It is very pleasing to see that the painted sign for Strike's Stores has still survived.
Congratulations for this fascinating blog! I just discovered it and I am looking forward to browsing through the archives and discovering you new posts. I write myself a blog about ghost signs and mosaics and posted a few months ago a picture of the painted sign for Strike's Stores. I have updated it to include a link to your post. Local to me and as another collector of ghostsign photos I was intrigued to read the actual wording on the sign. Sorry to tell that during a recent refurb of the prperty the contractors spent some time trying to remove all trace of the painted sign.
It is now completely unreadable but people who look for these things will know that a sign was once there.
