Holcombe, Lancashire c1910

Holcombe, Lancashire circa 1910. Holcombe is a village to the north of Bury. This part of the village appears to have changed little. The building in the middle distance on the right is The Shoulder Of Mutton pub. Postcard publisher / photographer not stated.

  1. A timeless view with the girls and cat. Chasing hoops would make good exercise. A dovecote hangs on the house down the street.

  2. It's always lovely when there are some children in the scene. When you start reading old newspapers, you find that playing in the street was not without danger even back then, accidents with horses and carts etc.

  3. Nice to see the such ancient buildings survive. The images you've captured are really adorable.
