I wonder how many in this week’s Sepia Saturday postings will still be around!
ReplyDeleteThat's a very nice photo of a corner shop. I love the variety of signs and the window displays.
ReplyDeleteGood to see the old place, still standing.
ReplyDeleteI spent ages trying to find a photo of a shop like this. Good to see the shop is still there and trading.
ReplyDeleteIt is so good to see the same building housing the same type of shop! A real corner shop.
ReplyDeleteColeman's Mustard, Cadbury's Cocoa - all the old staples :-) Well done on finding the shop on Google Street View which makes the story all the more interesting. Jo
ReplyDeleteWow! I loved the before and after pictures. I'll have to search for that for mine. Enjoyed the pics.
ReplyDeleteIs the sidewalk actually gone or is the car merely parked on the sidewalk? If the sidewalk is indeed gone I'd say you really need to look both ways when you come out of the shop.
ReplyDeleteA lovely little shop indeed.
A good example of such a universal shop type. The clues in shop windows are always a fun puzzle to solve.
ReplyDeleteLove it. I also have used cinema posters to date photographs - they were worth their weight in gold. I suppose these days there is always the digital imprint - but it is not the same.
ReplyDeleteIt's great that it's still a corner shop. I wonder why they cover the windows though. The first shop invites me to look in the windows at the display of wares for sale until I can't stand it anymore and have to go inside. Perhaps the modern version thinks the mystery of not knowing will lead me in their door?
ReplyDeleteYes it is gratifying so see the corner shop still going. I wish the former shop windows of my gg-grandfather's shop were not boarded up, although by the 1980s they were selling curry powder rather than real ales.
