Old postcards from the early 20th century, compared to the same view shown on Google Street View today. The postcards come from my own collection. Almost all of them are from England, mainly showing West London, Middlesex, Surrey, Berks and Bucks. Click on the postcards to see enlarged versions. Street View images are the copyright of Google. Mmmhh ... not sucha difference between then and now this week, apart from the addition of a few trees, which is never a bad thing.

ReplyDeleteThat's a milestone! The 'The White Lady' nickname derived from sailors finding it in the dark is terrific. I don't imagine many sailors bump into it anymore. In a way it is the ancient analog version of a Google Map app.
ReplyDeleteThat scene hasn't changed much.
ReplyDeleteUsed to do some courting in there before it became a Cafe Rouge. It was quite basic, outside the Town and close to a (then) posh pub that had flash motors outside and Hoorah Henrys inside, but nobody new us.
ReplyDeleteTwo wonderful old photographs, full of interest to a pub-lover and a brewer-lover such as me.
