Old postcards from the early 20th century, compared to the same view shown on Google Street View today. The postcards come from my own collection. Almost all of them are from England, mainly showing West London, Middlesex, Surrey, Berks and Bucks. Click on the postcards to see enlarged versions. Street View images are the copyright of Google. Another scene swallowed up by 'progress' and 'development'. Having had a look round the google view, then it looks like there might be some remnants of the past in the parade of shops next to the Blue Dragon laundry.
ReplyDeleteThe camera gives a false perspective making the road look like a hill, but the landscape is clearly very flat. And very cluttered now too.
