Hounslow, Middlesex, Bath Road c1913

Hounslow, Middlesex, Bath Road c1913. When this photo was taken, the shop next to Ward's Stores had not yet been built. Ward's Stores and the other shops look run-down now. The houses on the right have gone. Postcard by W. H. Applebee of Ashford. Click the postcard to enlarge.
For more old pictures have a look at this week's Sepia Saturday blog.

  2. Is there meant to be a Google street view as well. All I can see is a Google map. Like the postcard with the delivery vans.

  3. I'm amazed at how you track down the exact location in the original in order to provide the comparison with how it looks today.

  6. Despite being an urban area, there's a quiet calm quality to the photo. Life moving at the clop of horse's hooves and the occasional slow rumble of the early motors seems much slower and of course pedestrian than modern times.
