Frimley, Surrey, The White Hart circa 1912. In the Google Street View we can see the White Hart being refurbished, apparently this is complete now. In the other postcard we can see the view from the White Hart looking down the High Street, this view has changed beyond recognition. Postcards by W. H. Applebee of Ashford. Old postcards from the early 20th century, compared to the same view shown on Google Street View today. The postcards come from my own collection. Almost all of them are from England, mainly showing West London, Middlesex, Surrey, Berks and Bucks. Click on the postcards to see enlarged versions. Street View images are the copyright of Google. Very cool. Incredible how things change.
ReplyDeleteOh you know my weakness for pubs. These comparisons are always fascinating.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a nice old building. It's a pity the roundabout became so busy.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting comparison.
ReplyDeleteBring back the old pub.
ReplyDeleteAs always, it's great to see the before and after.
ReplyDeleteOh, my ... great before and afters. I just wish that things still looked like the "befores".
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, and happy Sepia Saturday,
Kathy M.
Oh no, what a change in the second scene. The before views are brilliant.
