Feltham, Middlesex, Harlington Road circa 1912. A peaceful scene from a hundred years ago. The elegant building on the right is Feltham Lodge, now used by the charity Age UK. The original Feltham Lodge was built between 1754 and 1800 for Mr John Cole Steele, who lived there until 1802. He was murdered on Hounslow Heath. In 1882 plans for the present lodge were drawn up and in the same year the old building was demolished. This new lodge, standing in some 6 acres, was built in 1888 (Thanks to Kathleen Hope for the information).

Richmond, Surrey, The Theatre c1904
Richmond, Surrey, The Theatre circa 1904. This is Richmond's fourth theatre and was built in 1899. It is still going strong today. The postcard was published in about 1904 by local photographer Frank Case. Below the Google Street View are some pages from a booklet published to celebrate the opening of the theatre, published in about 1900, called 'The Theatres of Richmond 1719 to 1899'. I particularly like the opulent bar. The theatre's interior is surprisingly unchanged today. Finally there is a postcard by Young and Co of Teddington showing the theatre from the other side taken in about 1910. Click on the pictures to enlarge. The theatre's official website is here and there is a wikipedia article here.
