Old postcards from the early 20th century, compared to the same view shown on Google Street View today. The postcards come from my own collection. Almost all of them are from England, mainly showing West London, Middlesex, Surrey, Berks and Bucks. Click on the postcards to see enlarged versions. Street View images are the copyright of Google. Wimbledon Park, Woodside Parade, 1906

This picture was taken by Richard Charles Young, who was the proprietor of the postcard publishing company Young and Co of Teddington.

Richmond, Kew Road, c1912

The first part of Kew Road used to be called The Crescent. The building on the left is the old Station Hotel. It is still there, but now called the Bull. On the far right of the picture is the entrance to the District Line station. The overground station had its own building on the other side of the road, before the Station hotel. The shops to the right of the hotel are T. W. Breach, Drapers.
