They did some things better back then, more restrained, leaving you able to concentrate on the architecture.Alan Burnetthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01015127443616786425noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-484198747535822445.post-82159684301137249222013-05-19T19:09:09.930+01:002013-05-19T19:09:09.930+01:00Remarkably alike despite the passage of time. I think I would have liked to visit Mr Jackson's shop. Victorian/Edwardian ironmongers and hardware stores are usually the most interesting shopfronts to see on postcards, and I'm sure the booksellers & stationers would have occupied me for hours. As for the Ladies' Outfitting store on the opposite corner, my wife and daughters would have made a bee-line for that doorway. Nice to see that the street has retained much of its character, even if the contents of the shops are nowhere near as inviting.Brett Paynehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07706734864792449845noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-484198747535822445.post-9099303914417072532013-05-18T21:21:03.833+01:002013-05-18T21:21:03.833+01:00That view hasn't changed much. That view hasn't changed much.Postcardyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16399915833682943432noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-484198747535822445.post-48944529080725390222013-05-18T20:39:18.570+01:002013-05-18T20:39:18.570+01:00Jackson & Sons were quite the businessmen!Jackson & Sons were quite the businessmen! And the ghostly figures in the doorway enhance the period quality.
