Ruislip, Middlesex, The High Street c1913

Ruislip, Middlesex, The High Street circa 1913. Ruislip is much more built-up now, but the buildings on the left are the same. This postcard was produced by W. H. Applebee of Ashford for Harry Hailey who ran the sub-post office in Ruislip village. Click the postcard to enlarge.

  1. What an interesting street scene in the postcard. I wonder what they have covered? Or is it just perhaps a wagon?

  2. Another great example of a shop street scene. The clue for the wagon load would be in the identity of the shop at the end, but I can't make out what it sells. Looks to large for fruit or produce. Furniture?
